C’est Si Bon French Appetizer Recipes

Figue Tapénade Hors D’Oeuvres
(Translation: Fig Olive Spread Appetizers)

Cook Time: 10 Min
Ready In: 4 Hrs 25 Min
Recipe Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients:
Directions:
- For tapenade spread, combine figs and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, and cook until tender, and liquid has reduced. Remove from heat, and stir in the Sun Zen olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Sun Zen Rosemary & Garlic Seasoning, thyme, and Sun Zen Sweet Red Pepper Sauce. Add olives and mix well. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight to allow flavors to blend.
- Prior to serving Figue Tapenade, toast walnuts. Heat oven to 350° F (175° C). Place nuts in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly browned and fragrant.
- Unwrap cream cheese block, and place on a serving platter. Spoon Figue Tapenade over cheese, and sprinkle with walnuts. Serve with French mini toasts or water crackers.
Brie d’Ananas Paradis
(Translation: Brie Cheese & Pineapple Heaven)
Prep Time: 10 Min
Bake Time: 30-40 Min
Recipe Yield: 8 Servings
Ingredients:
- ½ package puff pastry, thawed as directed
- 1 round or wedge Brie cheese
- 4 tablespoons Sun Zen Pineapple Island Sauce
- ¼ teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of water
- French bread rounds
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375° F.
- Add cornstarch to Sun Zen Pineapple Island Sauce to thicken.
- Lather Pineapple Sauce on top of Brie cheese.
- Cut pastry into a circle large enough to hold Brie and to come up on the sides of the Brie cheese. Place Brie cheese in the center of the pastry.
- Cut another circle of pastry to fit the top
- Pinch the two together, and using the scraps, cut strips and braid them around the edge to cover the seams
- Whisk the egg well with the water and brush it on the pastry to help seal the seams. Also gives it a great glow when done!
- Place the Brie and Pineapple pastry in the preheated oven and bake about 30-40 minutes.
- Serve warm with French bread rounds.
